I collaborated on this wonderful project with a very nice team at The Workshop. We had to deliver 67 shots in one month. All the footage we received was shot in the LA studios on a green screen.
BACKGROUNDS
The backgrounds had to be created from scratch from green screen assets that were also shot at the studios in California. We had to retime most of the footage to achieve a more “sensual” look overall.
KEYING
Keying was a huge part of the work that had to be done. We did many passes over the hairs and smoke. We also had to roto a big part of the feets and shadows to rebuild the characters in 2D to have them lay on objects.
Compositing
Most of the shots used a very simple setup. We would track the shot and place it as a 3D card onto the rest of the footage. All the other elements where also lay as 3D cards to give a good paralax effect as the camera was moving. We also had to stabilize some shots to sit the characters in different positions and on different body parts.
