BRIGILE – Shirt Drawing Removal

I’m pretty proud of this one. This removal was done in a totally unconventional way but also made it very fast! Most people ask to remove noise from an image. but what happens when you add noise. And by adding, I mean add A LOT of it!

I started the process normally, by trying to roto out or key out the shirt drawing. I quickly realized that this process would be really painful since there it was constantly moving randomly because of the wind. Since I had already dissociated the orange shape, I tried to replace it with a solid color. It worked to remove the skull face, but I simultaneously lost all the ripple from the wind. Has I was about to remove the noise match on the solid color, I tried to make it super noisy just to see if I could recreate the impression of movement. Then the idea stokes me. I took my mask and instead of applying a solid on it, I kept just the noise and made is super colorful. The shirt looked like crap, but at least the skull wasn’t there anymore

Then the idea stokes me. I took my mask and instead of applying a solid on it, I kept just the noise and made is super colorful. The shirt looked like crap, but at least the skull wasn’t there anymore. I then denoised and blurred the new ugly shape I had and selected the option the keep only the contrast and no color in the noise reduction. Pushed everything to the maximum and VOILÀ! No more drawings but kept the effect of the wind.
